Step Two

Make sure you have the following documents ready when you go to the South African Embassy to apply for your VISA. When you applied to the institution (place of study) and you were accepted, the documents you received from the Institution must be presented to the South African Embassy as proof that you have been accepted to study in South Africa along with the following documents:
  • If you are still a minor(under the age of 21), you are still considerred to be dependent on adult/s , you will require a letter from the person that will look after you and act as your legal guardian to write a letter agreeing that you will reside in South Africa under there Guardianship
  • If you are still a minor(under the age of 21), you are still considerred to be dependent on adult/s , you will require your parents/ legal guardian to write a letter agreeing that you can study in South Africa
  • The Police in your Country must fill out a document that states that you are not a criminal and are not currently under investigation for any crime whatsoever.
  • Your Doctor or General Practitioner must provide a medical report about your current health status as well as X-Rays(Radiological report) of yourself prior to applying for the study permit)
  • If you are married, please provide proof thereof by providing a certified copy of your marriage certificate.
  • If you have ever been in an area that exposed you to yellow fever, you must provide a yellow fever vaccination certificate; If you intend to go to an area in South Africa that is a yellow fever endemic area, you must have yourself vaccinated and provide a yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • If your Government has sponsored you to study in South Africa, you need to provide proof of this and must present a document from your government stating its intention and acceptance of your departure to South Africa
  • Medical Cover -- see Step Three
  • If you have children and they will accompany you to South Africa,please provide the relevant documents that shows that your child/s - dependent/s will accompany you on your journey to South Africa.
  • Provide Official bank statements or relevant proof of financial sponsorship.
  • Provide proof of the deposit made as set out in the VISA application form
